November Edition 'Veda Insights'
Dear business colleagues
"Whew", that was close. I am sure you all experienced the same anxiety as we all did for the final of last 10 minutes of the Rugby World Cup. What a close call, however a win is a win. I thought Graham Henry's comments were very appropriate, "the All Blacks did not win the RWC in the final game at Eden Park, rather they were the best team in the tournament & delivered the best campaign".
What a great analogy to the way we run our businesses. We often think about the win, the hunt to catch the sale to celebrate the growth. The focus often goes on the frontline customer-facing people. The reality is it's the entire team and the program that will either deliver the results or not, from production, to Finance, to Credit Risk, to Sales. All the parts need to equal the whole. We are running up to the festive season, another big year about to be parked behind us. The economy is still very fragile as is the rest of the world. A break I am sure will be most welcomed by all.
Remember to ensure that all receivables are up to date before the summer shut down. An account in arrears today will be three months in arrears at the end of January. A timely reminder to conduct a Veda HealthCheck on your slow paying customers to give you a shot at collecting before the year end.
We hope you find this issue of Insights interesting and we would like to wish you and your employees a very joyous festive season and relaxing break. We will be back with new exciting news in 2012.
Best wishes
John
